The Adruino Challenge
THE ARDUINO CHALLENGE is a new competition for K-12 students in the state of Alaska!
Who: Elementary-High School age students in Alaska
What: ARDUINO CHALLENGE -- Whatever you want! You can create whatever you want using one or more adruinos. This new technology is inspiring hobbyists throughout the world -- get in on the fun! These creations will be judged on both form and function -- we'll have judges looking at the creativity behind the idea and the genius in the design. Toys, Clothing, cleaning, back scratching, cat rescue -- the sky's the limit!!!
How: Come up with an idea and get building! Build something, anything and have fun!! Post your video
(max 5 minutes) to youtube and submit a link to your video, a Bill of Materials and brief description (one page or less) of your creation to arduinochallenge@gmail.com. The materials in your final creation cannot cost more than $200. The top five videos will be determined by VIEWER votes (done by "liking" the video on YouTube). A panel of judges will select the final winner from those top five videos. Why: I have been working with FIRST competitions for the past 4 years, and have loved watching students become completely engaged and excited about what they're doing. Recently, my friends invited me to be part of their "Illuminated" wearable arts entry (Check out the "Dress for all Seasons" video) and I found myself engaged and excited in the same way. I thought -- this is something that more people should get in on!!! I recognize that FIRST is not for everyone, and that it's not enough for everyone. SO -- Here's something else to try out! Need some inspiration? Check out other people's submissions, some complete project ideas and a long list of tutorials on The Arduino Challenge YouTube Channel. There's a TON of information out there.
